Reshuffling in Belarus’ Government and National Bank

April 2, 2025
On March 27, a series of personnel changes in the leadership of two key economic institutions—the Government and the National Bank of Belarus—came to an end.

These shifts signal a stronger role for the government in economic regulation, primarily through a nominal weakening of the National Bank’s influence, now headed by the former Prime Minister.

As a result, the new government lineup will likely have greater control over economic policy, with a stronger focus on domestic issues. Meanwhile, the limited rotation among top officials suggests continuity in the current economic course.
