Investment protection agreements legislation is a significant step towards attracting new investors

Kesarev Partner Yury Panasik discussed the advantages and bottlenecks of Investment Protection and Promotion Agreements (IPPAs) in Russia as an element of the new policy on localisation and support of investments at the Russian Energy Forum on 28 October 2020. Yury was speaking as per of the panel on localisation of electrical equipment.

Participants agreed that the new legislation is a significant step toward attracting new investors, but it is crucially important to work with the government authorities as they develop the necessary by-laws.

The panel was organized by our partner, the Association of Innovative Enterprises in the Energy Industry "EnergoInnovation". Panel participants included representatives of the Industrial Development Fund of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Machine Building Cluster of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Association of European Businesses and top managers of Mantrak Vostok, Caterpillar Eurasia, and Heat Physics.
